Two Minutes With Tony

For those of you who were a part of our first newsletter, welcome back! And to those who are just joining—welcome home!

We've entered the season of gratitude. This time of year is dear to me because it takes me back to the day that changed everything...

A thanksgiving surprise

I grew up with four different fathers and a mother who, while I loved her dearly, could be very volatile and angry. We had no money for food and would frequently skip meals. This particular Thanksgiving was no different.

I was still young the day the doorbell rang at our house all those years ago. I ran to open the door and to my absolute shock and awe saw a man standing outside, arms overflowing with bags of groceries.

Delighted, I sprinted back inside yelling, "Dad, dad! Someone's at the door and they've got FOOD!"

My dad immediately looked angry. You see, my father who lived with us at the time struggled to put food on the table. This Thanksgiving was looking to be one of canned vegetables and little more.

My father got up and stomped to the door.

Looking at the man holding the groceries, he muttered roughly, "We don't take charity from strangers," and went to slam the door shut...

But the man stuck his foot out to stop the door from slamming shut in his face and said, "Please, don't let your family starve because of your pride."

Begrudgingly, my father grabbed the groceries and slammed the door.

What it means, means everything

In the last newsletter, I talked about the importance of 3 decisions you're making every day:

  • What you focus on
  • What it means
  • What you're going to do

That fateful Thanksgiving, I was focused on there being food at our door—how amazing! My father's focus was—I'm accepting charity because I can't provide for my family.

But I was forever changed. While my dad nursed his wounded ego, I created the meaning that strangers care.

And if strangers cared, I would too.

It ignited something inside me: gratitude for others and the power of giving.

This spirit of giving was the origin of my life's goal to end hunger. And that's when I decided what I was going to do.

At 17, I fed 2 families, then 4, then 8, and over the years, that grew to 4 million meals annually. 10 years ago, after reaching 42 million people, I set a new goal: 100 million meals per year for a decade—totaling 1 billion meals.

I'm happy to tell you that through my partnership with Feeding America, we did it in only 8 years. But we're not stopping there...

It is my belief that one simple act of kindness can change the course of humanity. Our next goal is a 100 Billion Meals Challenge—to provide 100 billion meals for those in greatest need.

Gratitude is the antidote

What we do controls everything. It's why I'm here today. Looking back at my childhood, I could have refused to find gratitude. Maybe you're struggling to find it in your current life.

My father did. He was angry and fearful. I easily could have taken that path. But you know what?

Gratitude is the antidote to anger and fear. You can't be angry and grateful at the same time. And while what's wrong is always available to us, so is what's right.

So, this holiday season, let's put gratitude into practice. You can begin by asking yourself these three powerful questions:

  • Where in my life can I find gratitude right now?
  • Who can I be grateful for today?
  • What small act of kindness can I show to a stranger or loved one this week?

Gratitude and giving is evolutionary. It's intrinsic to the human experience to offer ourselves to those in need, to rise above our own circumstances, and to leave a ripple effect on our world.

Choose gratitude.

The small shift that makes the biggest difference

Small shift

What's wrong is always available—so is what's right. This holiday season, while some of us are experiencing moments of pure joy, others might be facing empty chairs or difficult memories.

Whether you're celebrating surrounded by loved ones or navigating a quieter season, know this: your capacity for joy and gratitude isn't limited by your circumstances—it's powered by something much closer to home: your emotional state.

For over four decades, Tony has used a powerful tool to transform his state instantly—whether he's speaking to thousands or navigating life's challenges this technique. Today, we are excited to share this practice with you.

The secret? Your physiology.

Your physical state = your emotional state. It's that simple. When you change how you move, you change how you feel. Want to experience this shift for yourself?

Here’s how to quickly transform your state right now:

  1. Stand tall, shoulders back, chest open—like you own the room
  2. Take three deep, energizing breaths—fill your body with oxygen and power
  3. Smile fully—yes, even if you don't feel like it at first
  4. Move with purpose for 30 seconds—dance, jump, swing your arms—whatever calls to you
  5. Lock in that state of absolute certainty—this is your natural state of power
  6. Feel a shift? That's the immediate power of emotion in motion.

Even a small shift counts—because creating a life you love isn't about perfection. As Tony says, progress equals happiness. And shifting your state can be simple.

You can enhance this practice with Amy Cuddy’s iconic TED Talk.

During this holiday season if you ever need a boost, remember that by using your physiology, you can always find gratitude!

All it takes is a simple state shift.

INSPIRE

From a single basket to a global movement

Tony Robbins Foundation

Gratitude. We all want more of it in our lives. But in a world and time that often feels disconnected, how can you truly embody it in your life?

Just as Tony shared in the story about the stranger who showed up at his family’s door with a Thanksgiving basket—one of the most profound ways to experience real gratitude is through giving.

And that unexpected basket of food at his door didn't just feed his family—it sparked a volunteer-based movement that would transform lives across the globe: The Basket Brigade, part of the Tony Robbins Foundation.

It’s one of the ways we at Team Tony Robbins love to give back during this time of year with our international community—and you can join us too!

Imagine being the person who delivers that holiday meal to a family in need, watching their surprise turn into pure gratitude as they realize strangers care.

"Thank you," "I can't believe this," "I'm totally dumbfounded"—these are some words we've heard from those whose lives have been touched by this movement. There’s nothing quite like the profound fulfillment that comes from this moment of human connection, reminding us that we're all part of one family.

For over 30 years, tens of thousands of volunteers have come together to deliver baskets of food and household items to those in need. Last year alone, a Basket Brigade in Florida helped feed over 25,000 people!

And it's not just during Thanksgiving—many Brigades around the world deliver hope and sustenance throughout the holiday season and even year-round. From across the US to the UK to Canada, this movement demonstrates the extraordinary impact we can make when we come together.

"These last few years I've delivered baskets with my mom, and it was so special," one of our team members shared as we were planning this newsletter, reflecting on how it not only deepened her bond with her with her mom, but also with her community—something that feels increasingly precious in today’s digital world.

The International Basket Brigades show the meaningful impact that giving from the heart can make—not just for those who receive, but for those who give. When we share our love and compassion with the world, we create ripples of gratitude that make the world a more uplifting place.

BREAKTHROUGH

Turning food waste into breakthrough solutions

Farmlink

As Tony shared, his story inspired him to set a goal to provide 100 billion meals to those in need—and while many are collaborating to support that mission—over 180 billion pounds of food go to waste in the USA alone. It's shocking to think about.

So where is this issue stemming from? Well, it isn't a lack of food production causing the problem—the challenge is bridging the gap between the nation's abundance of food and the millions of Americans facing hunger.

But as Tony teaches us—while we can focus on the problem—we can also focus on the solution because where focus goes, energy flows. And when we learned about Tony and the Tony Robbins Foundation’s support for The Farmlink Project, we saw just that: a young man named Ben Collier who focused on what he can do about this situation and went on to become the co-founder of a movement that embodies the spirit of giving and collective action.

Back in April 2020, Ben was a junior at Brown University, and like many students, he was forced to return home due to the pandemic. While at home, he began witnessing the mounting crises on both ends of the food chain. His mother shared article after article with him about how farmers struggled with millions of pounds of surplus food. At the same time, there were just as many stories about food banks struggling to keep up with demand.

Inspired by this stark contrast, Ben, his twin brother, and a few friends decided to take massive action. Their goal was simple: connect one farm with one food bank. They faced countless rejections from farmers skeptical of what college kids could do. Yet they persisted, and a breakthrough came when they connected with a farmer burdened with two million pounds of surplus onions. Given the green light to take whatever they could transport, they delivered 40,000 pounds of onions to a local food bank. The next day they did the same with 11,000 eggs.

What started as a small initiative quickly transformed into a nationwide movement. Over the next 15 months, 600 passionate college students—including Olympians and Fulbright scholars—joined their mission. Operating entirely over Zoom, these students became the lifeline connecting farms with excess produce to communities in dire need. Together, they rescued and delivered 290 million pounds of food to fight hunger across America.

The impact of a project like Farmlink proves what's possible when we unite around a shared purpose. Farmlink didn't just fill a temporary gap—they created a sustainable model that addresses both food waste and hunger.

That's why we're incredibly excited about this breakthrough—it reignites hope and demonstrates what's possible when we operate from a mindset of gratitude and abundance. Tony Robbins, like so many people, also faced hunger in his own childhood... but those hardships are what drove him to support Farmlink and other organizations who share in this mission of eradicating hunger.

This breakthrough is a powerful reminder of how we can transform the way we think about food, waste, and our shared responsibility to one another. Now that we've seen what's possible, we can amplify its impact—whether that's by spreading the word, volunteering time, or contributing resources.

There is always a way to make a lasting difference. How will you share your abundance to uplift others today?
